Catching up

I'm going to attempt to get caught up on our blog so that I am not posting pictures that are already a month(s) old.

Brooks has started on solid foods in full force. We held off for a long time because we tried feeding him the stage 3 baby food (which is more textured) and he gagged on it every time. Now we're realizing that he is maybe just a picky eater because he practically inhales finger food and is starting to refuse being spoon-fed if there are other things to eat.

Danny received some birthday money from grandpa and grandma Meyer and picked out a Lego fire truck. What could be better than trucks and Lego's all at the same time?!
Danny with his finished truck.
Danny has started showing an interest in video games. And of course if Danny is doing it, Brooks has to be right there too. Brooks just likes the controller with all of its buttons--his wasn't even plugged in.
Smiles!

Brooks will be walking soon. He pushes around anything that will move--the Lightning McQueen car in the picture, the laundry basket, the hamper, the stroller, diaper boxes.
Brooks loves to eat yogurt melts. But sometimes they get a little sticky and he loses them. :)
Nate's sister Amanda and her family came to stay with us for a weekend. We had a little birthday party for Danny and Elise, whose birthdays are only four days apart. All of the kids helped to make the birthday cake.
Brooks liked all of the balloons.
We converted our basement into party central and everyone had a great time!

The kids played pin the tail on the donkey.
And did the limbo.
And had balloon races. (This one was especially fun for the parents to watch!)
Danny opening one of his gifts.
Playing hot potato.
Elise got a new Curious George book for her birthday of eight Curious George stories. And Aunt Amanda read every single one to the kids. I think it was the longest that they sat still all weekend. Ha!
Our friends Jamie, Erin, and Patrick came over for dinner and play time. It was a bittersweet visit because Jamie accepted a new job that took them to Bismarck, North Dakota. We had to say goodbye just a few days later to this wonderful family that we have spent so much time with over the past few years. We have many great memories and will miss them a lot!
One last picture of Danny, Brooks, and Patrick. I love this one because they're all so happy and it's so representative of the time that we spent together.
